What do you love most about New Harvest Christian School (NHCS)?
I love the school’s attitude the most. While the staff is serious about educating the students in a Godly manner they also have a great sense of humor and understand that learning is supposed to be fun too. They work hard to make sure that each student receives the best education possible while maintaining a family atmosphere.
What do you think students love most about NHCS?
I think the students love the camaraderie the most. With the smaller class sizes, students are able to get to know each other much better and learn how to rely on each other and relate to each other in a manner that pleases God. We witness the younger students playing right along with the older students and the older students mentoring the younger ones on a daily basis.
What’s your favorite Bible verse?
It’s a long one, but Psalm 23: 1-6 has always been my favorite. At first the imagery caught my attention– almost like a poem. When I grew older I actually slowed down and read it for meaning and it is still my favorite reminder that God is always with us and will always provide for us. “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
What are your spiritual gifts and talents and how do you use them at New Harvest Christian School?
I believe my spiritual gift is being optimistic and having an open and willing heart to serve. I aspire to have the eyes and heart of Jesus. I am a talented organizer and am good with details. This serves me well in the business office and with fundraisers. I also have a pretty good sense of humor which certainly doesn’t hurt.
What is an examples of a project or way your school teaches that is unique compared to other schools and why is this important?
The biggest difference between our school and others is what I like to call the Prayer Warrior Phenomenon. Our teachers pray about praying! Not only do they teach our students the who, what, where, why, when and how of prayer, they encourage the students to do it all the time; in times of adversity and in times of praise. Our staff prays daily for our school, our students, our teachers, our parents and our community.
What is your favorite book and why?
It is far too difficult to pick only one. I love to read fiction books because it indulges my imagination. When I read a non-fiction book I don’t get to make up how someplace looks or how someone acts– it just is what it is. Fiction allows me to imagine how a castle looks when it was first built and how it looks when it’s in ruins centuries later. I can imagine how the people who built it lived or how the treasure hunters who scour the ruins act.
What is your favorite food?
Put cheese on it and we can call it good.
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Chocolate Malted Crunch
What is your favorite song?
“My Father’s Eyes” by Amy Grant.
What is your favorite field trip or special project your school has taken/completed?
I have had the pleasure of chaperoning a few field trips. I loved taking the 1st graders to the pumpkin patch and apple picking at the Painted Pony farm. I also got to go on the Floating Marine Lab with the 2nd-5th grades and to the California Science Center several times last year.
What do you like most about the families or parents that enroll their children at New Harvest Christian School?
I like that the families who have enrolled their kids in our school are Christian minded and goodhearted. They sacrifice their time and money to invest in their child’s education. They know what a privilege it is to be able to afford, and be allowed to send their kids to a Christian school.
What is your training?
I hold both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business with an emphasis on Organizational Systems Management. These were earned at California State University, Northridge and University of Phoenix respectively. I spent 13 years in retail management before becoming a stay-at-home mom.
